SCAN Immersive Auditing: Technology and methods for remote auditing of global supply chains

The SCAN Association and BSI Innovation has requested BSI Standards Ltd to provide expert services in relation to the development of this private standard. This included undertaking domain research to understand how this standard relates to other national/international standards and identification of relevant stakeholders; identification and formation of an external review group; creation of an initial draft standard; building consensus with the review group resulting in an update to the standard and publishing of the final version.

The British Standards Institution (BSI) is a Royal Charter Company and was the world’s first National Standards Body. BSI is appointed by Government as the UK National Standards Body and represents national interests at the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the European Standards Organizations (CEN, CENELEC and ETSI). This standard is not to be regarded as a British Standard or a Publicly Available Specification.

SCAN Appoints Carlos Ochoa as New Executive Director

The Supplier Compliance Audit Network (SCAN), an association comprised of trade compliance experts, is proud to announce the appointment of Carlos Ochoa as Executive Director, effective immediately.

Carlos brings a wealth of experience in global trade compliance, supply chain security, and strategic partnerships, most recently serving as Branch Chief at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) within the CTPAT Partnerships and Engagement Branch. He has been a long-standing advocate for collaborative security initiatives and has played a pivotal role in strengthening the relationship between SCAN and CBP. Carlos’ leadership was instrumental in the signing of the 2024 Joint Statement between SCAN and U.S. Customs, which formally recognized SCAN as a best practice in supply chain security.

In his new role, Carlos will guide SCAN’s strategic direction, deepen member engagement, and expand our audit-sharing platform. His appointment marks a significant milestone in SCAN’s evolution as the leading trade association for supply chain security.

Founded in 2014, SCAN is a member driven organization that leverages shared audits to provide a best in class security compliance assessment for importers, reduce audit fatigue on global suppliers, and improve the overall operational cost and efficiency of the global supply chain. With 62 members and over 32,000 registered global suppliers, SCAN continues to set the standard for collaboration and trade compliance excellence.

The Supplier Compliance Audit Network announces its support of the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism – Updated Minimum Security Criteria.

Supplier Compliance Audit Network (SCAN) as an organization of US and Canada based importers with a common goal of facilitation of international supply chain security compliance enthusiastically endorses the efforts of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to refresh and update the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) Minimum Security Criteria (MSC). SCAN has performed over 9000 supply chain security audits in the past 5 years and has a repository of 16000 factories locations. SCAN members participated in the Advisory Committee On Commercial Operations (COAC) that provided input and feedback during the drafting and review of new MSC. SCAN is looking forward to leading the socialization of the new MSC. SCAN intends to begin conducting audit in the 2nd half of 2019 utilizing the New MSC in an effort assess compliance lead in the completion of corrective and preventative action plans intended to prepare its members for audits and validations against these new criteria in 2020.
